Jatindra Mohan Mohanty Compilation

Jatindra Mohan Mohanty (1930-2012) was born at Syamasundarpur of Kendrapada district on December 21, 1930. His father was Jagamohan Mohanty and mother’s name was Sraddha Mohanty. After completing his matriculation from Peary Mohan Academy, Cuttack, he did his graduation and post graduation from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. For higher studies, he went to Central Institute of English Language, Hyderabad and Leads University, UK.

He started his teaching career from Ravenshaw College, then he went to BJB College, Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur University. Then he joined as the director of Eastern Region Language centre, Govt. of India. At last he became the professor of English at Utkal University and retired from his job in 1992.

He was proficient in both Odia and English languages. In english he had written 12 books. His compilations of different aspects of 600 years of Odia literature which includes kabya, poems, novels, drama, story, tattwa sahitya etc. is a major contribution with everlasting value. He had written about 20 books and more than 200 articles in Odia language. .

Along with the book publishing he was editing a number of magazines also. This includes Pragyan, Bhubaneswar Riview, Subarnarekha, Chitra and Shree.

In spite of his illness, he was working till the end. Even cancer also could not divert him from the work. He loved life and had many plans for the future. But passed away on August 14, 2012 after a brief period of illness. But he will be remembered forever for his literary creations.
